PV Specifications
Three high efficiency CIGS solar cells in a thin film PV (photo voltaic) which reduces the surface area to produce 5.25 Watts total. Use of these PVs reduces the area, weight, and flexibility. These thin film PVs do not break like Monocrystal PVs, and they are also much lighter and easily attached to foldable fabric for easy portability. The use of 5.25 Watt PV reduces the cost of the system. (The cost of CIGS PVs is about $20/Watt.)
The PV is mounted and wired together to power and charge the MPPT electronics as well as the internal Li-ion polymer batteries. The modules are guaranteed to perform in normal atmospheric conditions. The optimal temperature is 25ºC ambient (outside air temperature), but the solar cells have been rated to operate in extremes from -40ºC to 176ºF. For all solar modules, output drops with increasing temperature and needs to be considered when choosing a product to meet your charging needs.
